The Mindful Librarian: Jennifer Bleicher…
Welcome to The Mindful Librarian. I am a middle school librarian, former high school English teacher, mother of two, avid reader, and lifelong learner.
My interest in mindfulness stems from a firm belief that our purpose on this planet is to achieve peace and serenity by evolving to our highest selves. I am not a mindfulness “master,” nor do I believe anyone ever is. I simply believe that by living life while consciously employing mindfulness techniques, one can shed the weight of things past, release the burden of anxiety caused by fear of what’s to come, and attain such peace and serenity.
The purpose of this blog is to share my mindful quest for enlightenment in all areas of life, and to reach out to like-minded individuals who, like me, believe that the journey is more important than the destination and that each day is a marvelous gift to be mindfully savored.
Jennifer Bleicher holds a BA in English from Stony Brook University (State University of New York), and a Masters of Library and Information Sciences from Long Island University at CW Post. She served as a board member for LISMA (Long Island School Media Association) and her local chapter of MOMS Club International (Moms Offering Moms Support).
In 2017, Jen was named SLS Librarian of the Year by Nassau BOCES. She was also awarded the 2017 Ellen S. Richards Award by the NY State Association of Family & Consumer Sciences Educators.
